Performances and Presentations

Shake Rattle and Roll shows and performances are designed to give children from Nursery to Year 7 a chance to experience percussion music from around the world and down through the ages.

A typical day in the company of Shake Rattle and Roll would begin with a 45 - 55 minute performance to the whole school.
The children will see, hear, and 'feel' a wide range of percussion instruments.

There's laughter, audience participation, and costume changes that are guaranteed to keep the children captivated from start to finish.

From the beat of the Scottish Highlands to the pulsating rhythms of Rio, and the classical melodies of Europe to the unmistakable sound of the Caribbean, our shows are an unforgettable, visual, learning experience that's fun all the way.

The percussion workshops that we have developed and currently offer are Samba Carnival, Caribbean Calypso, and African Djembe Drumming (for Key Stage 2); and Tribal Rainforest Soundscape, Ocean Journey, and Jungle Djembe (for Key Stage 1).

We happily work with up to two classes at a time for Key Stage 2, and one and a half classes for Key Stage 1, if required.

Duration and content of the workshops are age-appropriate (although usually half an hour in length, and the content can often be adapted to suit your topics/requirements).

All sessions are very "hands on", with every child playing an instrument, and the whole class working together towards a performance outcome in every workshop.

Tea Time and Evening Shows

Our After School shows are a great way to give the children a chance to perform to their families and friends, in addition to giving the families an opportunity to see the fruits of the children's work throughout the day.

We combine percussion workshop performances by the children with highlights of our own shows to round off the whole day, often culminating in a brief, ''impromptu' adult workshop for the parents and staff.

Always a popular, fun, memorable end to an exciting day.

"You are such good value for money - it would cost us so much more to take the children to see a show, and even then they probably wouldn't be having the 'hands-on' experience they receive in the workshops with you two".  Highover School, Hitchin.
